How to apply a lace wig

There are two ways to apply your lace wig:

1. You can use tapes or glue to apply the wig. You will need double sided tape, scissor,  clips, cosmetic sponge, alcohol, a Q-tip or spatula, a skin protector, the adhesive, adhesive remover, wig cap ( if you prefer to wear one) and a silk or satin scarf.

Use a liquid adhesive that is suitable for human skin –  You can use a wig cap which should be a little lighter than your complexion to keep your hair and hairline in one place. Otherwise braid, wrap or pin curl your hair to keep it in place.

Clean your hairline and in front of your hairline all around with a cosmetic sponge containing alcohol. Wait until it dries.

Apply the skin protector in front of your hairline all around your head and wait until it dries.

Clip the baby hair and the hair backwards away from the perimeter of the lace wig, so that the lace is fully shown. Cut off the excess lace from around the perimeter, leaving at least one inch of lace around the perimeter with half inch on either side.

Fit the Lace wig on your head to find the center and a comfortable fit. You can use an eyebrow pencil to lightly trace around your hairline where you wish the wig to be positioned once it is bonded. Mark the center on your forehead. Take the lace wig off then apply the adhesive on your skin, in front of the hairline, right around your head with either the Q-tip, spatula or the adhesive applicator in the bottle. Ensure that the adhesive is not applied to your hairline but in front of your hairline.

When the adhesive dries, or feels just a bit tacky, place the wig on your head with the edges rolled back. Once you have positioned the wig according to your desired fit, release the edges of the lace and press gently all around the hairline. The adhesives cause zero damage to the hairline as long as an adhesive remover is used to remove the adhesive when taking off the wig. The Hair Therapy Adhesive is recommended for those with very sensitive skin.

Use a silk or satin scarf to tie around the edges until the adhesive is cured before styling.

2. Use a double sided tape – This method is more involved than the liquid adhesive. Prepare your head and lace wig as previously mentioned above. After cutting the tape into lengths of three inches, attach the tape firmly around the perimeter of your unit

Position the unit on your head, removing the backing of the tape, in sections, a little at at time.

Starting from the middle of your forehead at the hairline, firmly press the tape into your skin with a tail comb, working on one side and then on the next.

Use a silk or satin scarf to tie around the edges until the adhesive has set (according to the manufacturer set time) before styling.

How to remove a lace wig

1. Pin up all the hair including the baby hairs into a ponytail.

2. Apply the Lace Release to the adhesive around the perimeter of the hairline. Leave it for a few minutes, then gradually remove the lace. Apply more lace release if necessary.

3. Apply the Citrus base Cleaner, to clean the excess glue on your unit and your skin.

4. Remove the glue embedded in the lace unit before washing.

HOW TO PREVENT WEAVE SHEDDING

So, you have just gotten your hair done and now your weave is shedding. What do you do? We are here to help.

If you have a shedding weave, it is simply because the hair is slipping out of the track. This may be because the hair is silky straight or because the track is not tight enough. To prevent your weave from shedding, you will have to seal the weft before applying it.

You will need a sealant and it will need to be applied to the hair just below the weft ON BOTH SIDES. Allow the glue to completely dry before applying the weft to your hair.

If your weaving is shedding excessively, you might need to seal the weft while wearing the tracks. This is not recommended however it is the best way to ensure that your brand new weave is not ruined by becoming too thin. Section the hair so the entire track is exposed. Apply the glue and use a blow dryer (on low heat) to dry. Once the track is completely dried, you will need to go on to the next track until your entire head is completed. Please note that this will reduce the shedding however since only one side of the track is sealed, it might not prevent the weave from shedding completely
